Agostina Pieri's 2021 Rosso has a nose of rich stewed red cherry, raspberry, wild Maine blueberry, and blood orange peel all cooked down into a fruits of the forest pie. There's suede and wet, stony soil, and a selection from the spice rack including turmeric, oregano, and curry powder. After the fresh and soaring aromas, the palate is surprisingly bold, full bodied with warm and chewy fruit, accents of leather and dried sage with pleasantly bitter tannins building on the finish, which echoes with cherry, blueberry and raspberry. This Rosso is something to enjoy now with baby back ribs, but a few years in the cellar won't hurt it either.
