Mandilaria is a native variety on Crete, one of the oldest known on an island with winemaking heritage that goes back 4500 years. "Great Mother" was the chief deity of the Minoans, in charge of "nature, fertility, vegetation and succession of the seasons, flowering and withering, death and resurrection". 

The Mandilaria grape has deep purple flesh and thick skins, so this extremely red, structured bottle of wine has deep berry flavors and chalky earth notes carried along by cantilevered tannins, but it was technically made like a rose with only a few minutes of skin contact.
