When our distributor set a Muscat of Alexandria from the less famous part of South Africa that was both oddly named and expensive, we met it with a mix of curiosity and apprehension. Well, we couldn't have been more surprised to find a wine of depth, bright yellow fruit, character, and earthy complexity that puts it in a class with great Chenin Blanc or the finest wines of northeastern Spain. This wine is both a surprise and a delight.
