An equal parts blend, 33% each of Tannat, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, with 1% Fer Servadou. This wine has a suave, elegant texture and old school earthy flavors that remind us of the best traditions of Madiran. Aged in barrel for two years - one third of them new - which was enough to soften the hard tannic edges these wines can show. The result is a smashing value for old school Bordeaux lovers. The nose has blackcurrant and blackberry, soil after a fresh rain, tomato leaf, and roasted coffee. The palate is framed with polished tannins wrapped around pitch black fruit, pipe smoke, soil and tobacco, iron and a drop of orange oil lingering on the finish. Put this wine on the table with game, grilled steak, pork loin, and all sorts of full bodied, savory food.
