The Tondonia vineyard is Lopez de Heredia's flagship vineyard on the banks of the Ebro river. The clay limestone soil here produces Tempranillo of rare structural elegance, with a helping hand from Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo. In great vintages the Heredia family makes Gran Reservas of incredible power and finesse, but we'll be waiting a while to see that one. In the meantime, the Reserva is here and ready to be the star of your next dinner party. Beautiful aromas of strawberry, crushed cherries, savory herbs, dried citrus, tobacco and vanilla bean lead to a full bodied palate impressively bright with acidity, strung with long, suave tannins, deep black fruits and organic earth notes. It's tasting great now, but this will last a decade (or two) in the cellar.
