These days, Barberas of all kinds are generally pretty high in alcohol. It’s a matter of math, in a region with more and more sunshine and heat come in the summer months, and a variety historically celebrated for its ability to reach plump levels of alcohol even in tough weather. It is refreshing to find a Barbera so, well, refreshing. It smells of rose petals, rose hips, cherry, and orange peel. It tastes intensely of oranges and cherries, fresh raspberries. The texture is beautifully fresh but filling and satisfying.
