In keeping with the theme of the vintage, this wine shows first and foremost an intense set of fruit aromas; black raspberry, cherry, and wild blueberry. Dig a little deeper and there's a note of rhubarb and toasted orange peel. The deft touch of oak is represented by suggestions of nutmeg and vanilla bean, and there's a scoop of Dundee clay here too. Gentle handling in the winery gives this Pinot Noir the winery's signature elegance, balancing suave, silky tannins with ever-present acidity for a palate that shines with vivid black fruit notes, baking spices, with an energetic, lightly creamy texture that echoes with crushed berries, crushed herbs, and earth on the finish. This is delicious today, but the structure of this wine will last at least a decade.
