The tiny little appellation of Quarts de Chaume alongside the Layon river in Anjou is the finest place in the Loire for sweet Chenin Blanc. The Basalt soils encourage richness and spice, the river offers a delicate fog that encourages the botrytis rot for further development of flavors, and in the hands of talented winemakers like Emmanuel Ogereau, the results often rise to stunning heights. Lusciously sweet but absolutely electric with acidity, this is one of Chenin Blanc's most intense faces.
