Chateau Mazeris is a quiet hero of Fronsac. Bordeaux that gets released eight years after vintage is rare. At this price it's unheard-of. A classic right bank recipe of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, there's so much to love in here. The nose is of black cherry fruit leather, coffee grounds, tamarind, orange oil, cedarwood smoke, and coconut cream. The palate is of medium weight, with satisfying chalky tannin, dark cherry-forward fruit that stays impressively fresh. Classic drying tannins and a tobacco-leafy finish with iron rich clay and dry fruit. Brilliant now, but worth a few slots in the cellar too!
