This wine is one of Roc des Anges’ anchor wines, a relatively even blend of Grenache, Carignan, and Syrah. Everything is picked early and handled carefully. The vines are old – though not as old as some of the domaine’s vines – and craggy. The wine smells of dark fruit, blackcurrant, smoky soil, blackberries, licorice. The palate is intensely black fruited with hints of  orange oil and tarry earth. It is full but not heavy, dense but not stodgy.
