REIS is a supergroup of sorts, five friends working in wineries in the Langhe and Asti areas of Piedmont, who collaborate on this project. Grapes are purchased from old Timorasso vineyards in Berzano, the wine is aged in steel with plenty of lees stirring to bring out Timorasso's naturally rich texture. The resulting wine is reminiscent of great Chenin Blanc, with aromas of white peach, lemon, acacia blossoms and a touch of white pepper. The palate is full bodied and lightly creamy but racing with acidity. Flavors of pear and peach and preserved lemon lead to a finish crusted in salty minerality. Try this with a crab or lobster dish, polenta with eggplant, or creamy goat milk cheese.
