Many of Hungary's most distinctive red wines are made from the Kadarka grape, planted sporadically all across the country. During the communist era, the variety was officially discouraged and there was a time the variety faced extinction. The Heimann family in the southern appellation of Szekszard were among a dedicated group of growers who worked hard to preserve and encourage the variety. The result of all that work is this spectacular bottle of wine, from their estate vineyard in the Porkolab river valley. Shimmering bright acidity carries perfectly ripe strawberry, raspberry, and floral notes. The palate is pure silk, fresh, and energizing, with delicate notes of dry soil joining all the fresh fruit.
