Trebbiano is one of those pan-Italian white grapes that seems to have come from everywhere. It's been in Sicily for six hundred years, long enough to be its own local clone, and with the right care and feeding it makes a stunning wine in Francesco's mountain vineyards. The nose begins with peaches and cream, a dash of salt and a scoop of Italian herbs. The palate follows up with stone essence, apples and roasted peaches and lime zest. Incredible stuff, full bodied and a happy surprise for anyone who thought Trebbiano was no better than jug wine.
