Calabretta's oldest vines of Nerello Mascalese are reserved for this cuvee, given extended age in the bottle before release. The wine needs it too, because those old vines yield wine of intensity whose charms are slow to develop, but well worth the wait. This wine has a strong savory note to it, more than the usual basalt-type earth alongside Etna's signature ripe red fruits.
