Drawn from the Chianti Colli Senesi side of Felsina's estate, this wine comes from the same vineyards - if not the same specific blocks - as the famous Fontalloro. All Sangiovese, aged in a mixture of large, neutral oak barrels and stainless steel for a more food-focused, lighter result than their generally brooding Chianti Classico. The nose starts with red cherry, clay soil, saddle leather, oregano and sage. The palate shows Italian seasoning, red cherry and hint of nutmeg and a strong note of earth. Fresh acidity balanced against light tannins that build on the finish. Beautifully balanced structure for a food friendly Chianti, and a fantastic value from Felsina's estate.
