Freedom Hill is a particularly warm and sheltered site, so the Pinot Noir here tends to be full bodied and fleshy (most famous are the Panther Creek Pinot Noirs of days gone by, black as pitch). At Walter Scott, the idea is to balance that weight and richness with a bit of finesse. Wild raspberries, roasted plums, and candied violets, Earl Grey tea and anise. Luxurious texture intertwined with earthy tobacco and stony minerality. Silky tannins balance the power and elegance.
