The secret is out, Evening Land might have made their name with the chart topping Chardonnay from La Source Vineyard, but their greatest triumph yet might be this delightfully balanced Eola-Amity Chardonnay that doesn’t break the bank. Using (mostly) estate grapes, the team at Evening Land makes this wine with the same degree of care and attention they put into their Seven Springs and La Source wines, but with fewer new oak barrels. The 2023 vintage was a star studded year, the third in a string of four high quality Willamette Valley vintages, noted for textural depth and intense flavors. This Chardonnay is Eola-Amity at its best, remarkably even tempered, like any great white Burgundy. The nose opens with orange and lemon curd with a note of salty brioche. The palate has plenty of acidity running through the lightly creamy texture, with flavors of lime leaf, lemon bar, and buttery croissant. Stack this wine beside your Bourgonge Blancs and serve with chicken dressed in herbs and lemon, fish under a beurre blanc sauce, or Dungeness crab.
