The Clos Blanc (as ever, mostly Chardonnay, with a little Friulano here, Muscat there) is far more elegantly textured, but though quieter, it says more. It gives off aromas of wild strawberry and tangerine and lime, dusty earth and sandalwood and pear tart. The palate comes in at a cool 3.2 pH, (for the non-nerds out there, that’s very low) and feels silky like a mountain stream over smooth stones. There’s notes of pear butter and lemon curd, and a dash of brioche – but less than in the broad, brash Abbey Ridge.
