Forgive the nerd-talk for a moment, but this is vineyard - an this particular vineyard block -is special. There's a few rows of Cordon-trained vines (instead of the far more common and productive Guyot system) where grapes grow off older wood, and the yield is about half what other quality minded growers get. Essentially, the clusters are tiny, the "skin-to-juice" ratio is as high as it gets, and the resulting wine has incredible tension and aromatic power. From red raspberries to orange peel and underbrush, with tea-like delicate tannins.
