Winemakers are supposed to love all their vineyards equally, but Alex admits that this one is probably his favorite. This wine is pure silk, with intense blackberry, raspberry, blood orange, and sage. The texture is almost cloudlike, soft and elegant with a ribbon of fresh acidity running through it. The vines in this wine are ungrafted, a risky proposition for a vineyard owner, since phylloxera remains an ever-present threat, but there's a certain depth of aromatic detail and textural finesse that seems to come from these rare ungrafted vines every time.
